Patient Preparations

Contrast CT

  1. No eating or drinking at least 4 hours prior to the examination.
  2. Please inform our staff if you have history of asthma, renal disease, diabetes mellitus or allergy to contrast material.
  3. If you are allergic to X-ray contrast material, you should be pre-medicated with oral steroid 12 hours and 2 hours prior to your scheduled examination as instructed by your physician, in order to minimize the risk.
  4. If you are diabetic, and take metformin or Glucophage, please stop the medication on the date of examination and within 48 hours after the examination.
  5. Please inform our staff if you are pregnant or suspected to be pregnant.

Ultrasound Scan
1. Upper Abdomen – no eating or drinking at least four hours prior to the examination.
2. Lower Abdomen / Pelvis/ Prostate – Transrectal / Transvaginal – Please empty your bladder prior to the examination.
3. Lower Abdomen / Prostate (Transabdominal) – Please drink lots of water until your urinary bladder is nearly full.
4. Whole Abdomen – No eating at least 4 hours prior to the examination. Please drink lots of water until your urinary bladder is nearly full.

Mammogram
1. Do not apply any deodorant lotion or powder to the axilla before the examination.
2. Please inform our staff if you are pregnant or suspected to be pregnant.

Bone DEXA
1. Please avoid any barium examination at least seven days prior to the examination.
2. Please inform our staff if you are pregnant or suspected to be pregnant.
